Young German Nick Heidfeld had a perfect rise to Formula 1. He dominated in German Formula
Ford, then Formula 3, and afterward became the winningest driver in
International Formula 3000 history. Unfortunately, F1 proved to be
a more difficult
task, and his debut
season ended up
being a big
disappointment. Nick cannot be blamed for this, however, since Prost was in shambles with a very poor car.
The next season he
moved with open arms
to Sauber, where he
was given a good car
in a supportive team
atmosphere.
Nick didn't
disappoint by taking 7th in the championship, including an
impressive podium finish
in Brazil. Last year he continued his good form by taking 8th in the championship
with more great
drives. This
year Nick remains at
Sauber with new
teammate H-H
Frentzen.
