One of the most
controversial moments
in F1's recent past was when this man, Jenson Button, was signed by Frank Williams
for the 2000 season after having only graduated from Karting two years prior. The feeling was that he was far too inexperienced to handle F1, yet after his first few races his critics were silent. By his second race, he became the youngest driver in F1's history to score a World Championship point, and by the end of the season he was
unanimously regarded as a potential World Champion. Despite his great form in 2000, he was 'loaned' to
Renault for two seasons in favour of CART star Juan Pablo Montoya,
and in 2001 his form
dropped sharply with
poor performances.
He turned things
around last season
with many stunning
drives, and ended up
outscoring his
highly touted
teammate Jarno
Trulli. For
2003 he was signed
by BAR, and hopes to
continue his current
string of great
performances.
